The society

The ASNP, APS affiliate # 60, was founded by Paul van Reyen in 1975 as the successor of
the Netherlands and Colonial Philately (NCP) which had been the home of Netherlands
collectors for many years. It is an American organization with a world- wide membership of
philatelists interested in all aspects of Netherlands philately.

This includes, besides the Netherlands proper, the  Netherlands Overseas Territories,
formerly known as colonies, and even such early ones as New Amsterdam (New York today),
the Cape of Good Hope, and Dutch commercial establishments all over the world.
No aspect of philately is ignored; it includes stamps, postal history, postal markings,
entires, revenue stamps and so on. The ASNP has no fixed domicile as such as its officers
are  scattered world- wide.

The link between the members is our illustrated  Magazine which appears every two months.
It has articles on a great variety of subjects, as well as new issues, book reviews etc.

The Magazine can be obtained both in the standard printed paper format, or in an electronic
version sent by e- mail. The Magazine has original articles written by ASNP members as well
as translations of interesting material that has appeared in other publications.

Once a year we have an auction which deals exclusively with Netherlands and Related Areas
material. We also have an extensive Library which can be consulted by the members for
their research.

The members try to meet every few years, usually at a venue such as a major philatelic
exhibition. In 2002 we met in Amsterdam on the occasion of the latest Amphilex exhibition,
in 2006 we met in Washington at the largest international exhibition up to that time,
in 2008 in Hartford, CT, and in 2010 in Los Angeles; both sites of a large APS show.
